Salacia is woody climbers naturally found in tropical regions, mainly growing in Northern Sri Lanka and Southern India.
Salacia has a long history of use as a treatment for diabetes in traditional Indian medicine, meals and drinking water. The recent research suggests that chemicals in Salacia seem to prevent sugars in food from being absorbed by the body.
